The Healthier Alternative to Waist Training

Posted by Nima Rafizadeh on

If you’re thinking of taking advantage of the purported benefits of waist training, please do your research first.

In the past, a handful of celebrities, including Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Amber Rose, have urged their followers to start waist training for certain benefits, including weight loss, improved posture, getting back into shape after childbirth and helping to shape your waist.

More recently, Kim Kardashian and others have backed off the use of the term “waist training” and “waist cinching”, in favour of “waist shaping” and, “waist taming”.

Why did they do that? A waist training corset is constructed with “bones'' made of steel, latex or rubber. The corset is drawn tightly, or “cinched”, around your waist to reduce its circumference. The idea is, over time, your waist will actually become compressed and maintain its slimmer shape even when you are not wearing the corset.

The Risks Far Outweigh the Benefits

There is little if any independent scientific research that supports the claimed waist training results. At best, you might find a medical professional saying that wearing a waist trainer under an outfit for an evening shouldn’t do any harm.

But as far as a permanently small waist, losing weight or getting an hourglass figure, the length of time that you would need to wear a cincher could cause more harm than good. This includes breathing difficulties, weaker abdominal muscles, back problems, fewer benefits from exercise due to restricted movement, acid reflux, back acne, and much more.

Waist Shapewear - The Healthier Alternative

The idea behind waist shapers isn’t wrong. Yes, if you found a garment that could support your waist, it could add a flattering shape, help you lose inches around your waist and even make it easier to recover after having a baby. But waist shapers are too aggressive and damaging.

Shapewear, including Mass & Slim’s Anti-Cellulite Waist Shaper, can deliver similar results as those promised by steel-boned corsets, but in a far more comfortable way.

Made with a breathable bamboo viscose fabric, you can wear the Waist Shaper all day without knowing it's there. Even better, the revolutionary fabric is infused with tiny ceramic beads that exert a micro-massaging effect to promote blood flow, strengthen your skin and reduce the appearance of cellulite.
