The Best Article About Cellulite Ever?

by Nima Rafizadeh on Nov 13 2017
We hope you’re familiar with our habit of busting cellulite headlines. We don’t like seeing so many magazine and online articles that are simply creating impossible hopes that you can ‘blast away cellulite’. But, even while there’s been a notable increase ‘embracing’ or ‘celebrating’ cellulite stories, there still remains very little coverage of cellulite in the popular media that’s true and fair. So we were really chuffed to find the article “What You Need To Know About The Connection Between Cellulite And Weight Loss”, on the Women’s Health website.  If you’re looking for an even-keeled explanation of cellulite, what it is and how it can be ‘treated’, this is it. Almost every paragraph is like a mini cellulite lesson.  1. “Cellulite is incredibly common” This can’t be stated too often. The article points out that 80% to 90% of women have cellulite. Despite that, many women who have cellulite feel like they are the exception. You’re not, you’re the rule!  2. “…people of all weights and sizes can and do have cellulite” While we wonder about the Hillary Duff example the author uses in the article, the point is that even very slim people can have cellulite.  3. “Losing weight won’t automatically get rid of cellulite” Like any other cellulite ‘treatment’, losing weight will not get ‘rid’ of your cellulite. The reason is that the amount of cellulite anyone has depends on a variety of factors, including genetics, age, skin thickness, sex and levels of body fat.  4. “… it is considered normal from a medical standpoint to have some (cellulite)” Yes, it’s true. Cellulite is normal. You are not a freak. 5. “Some beauty treatments and creams claim to target cellulite, but experts are skeptical of their efficacy.” The article does a great job of busting the cellulite-eliminating claims of any skin cream or other topical treatment because, while cellulite appears on the skin, the effect is produced by a layer of fat that is below the surface of the skin.  6. “…there are no current treatments that will eliminate cellulite completely.” Enough said. But that doesn’t mean you can’t look better and feel better about yourself by wearing Mass & Slim anti-cellulite shapewear!

Our Journey with Kim Kardashian’s Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Oct 31 2017
First, we know that there are far more important issues in the world, both personal and global, than Kim Kardashian’s cellulite. But, never-the-less we decided to applaud the example Kardashian set when images showed up online of the reality star’s famous posterior with - gasp! - visible cellulite. And that was just the beginning of our journey. For anyone who has stressed over their cellulite by not wearing certain outfits, or avoiding the beach, the recent body-positive movement and increasing numbers of celebrities who are willing to accept their cellulite, is a welcome relief and a shot of encouragement. So we applauded last May when images of a bikini-clad Kim appeared in the media with clearly visible cellulite. There it was, one of the most recognized celebrities of all, one whose fame has been built largely on her butt, showing that, yes, she too, in addition to 90% of all women, has cellulite. As happy as we were about Kim’s cellulite ‘coming out’ images, we were equally as disappointed when, not long after our post, Kardashian claimed the images were photoshopped to make her cellulite look worse. In other words, she still felt cellulite was unacceptable, which is interesting because we could swear we found at least one of the images in question on her Instagram account, though, if we did, it’s since disappeared. More recently, Kardashian is said to ‘freak out’ over the cellulite shots in a trailer for the upcoming season of ‘Keeping up With the Kardashians’. Here’s one quote from the clip. “I don’t get it, like I literally don’t look like this.” So the journey has gone from Kardashian (potentially) sharing photos of her cellulite on her own social media accounts, to saying that the cellulite was photoshopped to make it look ‘worse’, to claiming that she ‘literally’ doesn’t look like this’. Kim, the opportunity to make so many millions of women feel better about their cellulite was in your hands, all you had to do is own it. Becoming an icon of beauty is an amazing achievement, but it’s an empty one in the absence of leadership and empathy.
Tips on how to survive the party season

How to Survive Party Season

by Nima Rafizadeh on Oct 27 2017
We might call it them fall and winter, but the next couple of months are really party season. Starting with Halloween’s costumes and candy, followed closely by holiday celebrations with family, friends and coworkers, and finishing off with New Year’s festivities, your social calendar will probably be fuller over the next two months than at any other time of year. If you’ve been managing your weight and keeping your cellulite in check, party season can be a real challenge to your efforts. But with the right preparation and approach, you can minimize the threat, enjoy the moments and come out of it all looking as good as ever. Here are a few tips for making it happen. 1. Get Mentally Prepared Just by keeping in mind that you’ll be facing lots of challenges, setting yourself up to beat them and keeping your focus on the goal, you’ll have done a lot to avoid the threats to your health weight and cellulite that come with party season. 2. Get Your Rest The late nights can wear you down, and wear down your will power too. Especially the night before an event, try to get at least seven hours of sleep. 3. Eat Before You Head Out Arriving at the party on an empty stomach is asking for trouble. Before you go out, have a healthy meal, or at least a solid snack of fruits and vegetables, to keep your appetite in check. 4. Scope Out the Good Stuff Sure, you’re there to enjoy it all. But if you make it a point to choose the healthy food and drink options first, you’ll eat less of the other stuff. 5. Alternate Alcohol and Water Alcoholic drinks deliver a double whammy. First, they’re full of cellulite-inducing calories. Second, they lower your inhibitions about what you eat and drink. Have eight ounces of water between drinks to reduce alcohol’s effect. One More: always look your best. When you head out looking sharp, like in cellulite-reducing shapewear, it helps to keep your mind on the goal – feeling better about yourself and looking great too.

A Glimmer of Hope for More Realistic Media Images

by Jonathan Osborn on Oct 18 2017
How do you feel when you see a photograph online or in a magazine of someone with a ‘perfect’ body? One without a blemish, wrinkle or any sign of cellulite. How are you supposed to feel? After all, you have blemishes and wrinkles and cellulite.  And that’s if you see just one photo of someone with a perfect body. What happens when, every time you go online or open a magazine, you are bombarded by dozens or hundreds of images of perfect bodies? You might not even want to get out of bed – and that’s the reality for many who have pre-existing depression or other issues and then have to face the impossible. Perfection. If you’ve never heard of Getty Images, you probably see one, or 20, of their pictures every day. The company is the largest stock photography company in the world. They contract photographs around the world to take photos of anything that we might find interesting, from news stories to, yes, those images of perfect models that can ruin your day. For media companies, Getty Images (GI) means that they don’t have to maintain their own stable of photographers. Instead, they can simply buy whatever image(s) they need from GI. So if GI decides to change the way they take images, or what they do with those images afterward, it can have a huge impact on a lot of the media imagery we see. “Getty Bans All ‘Photoshopped’ Images That Alter Models’ Body Shapes”  In what must feel like a victory for anyone who’s ever felt down after seeing unrealistic media images, GI has agreed to abide by a French law that obligates magazines to indicate when a models’ photo has been retouched or photoshopped. If they don’t, they can face fines of tens of thousands of dollars.  This isn’t the answer to living with your cellulite. But it’s at least it’s a start at reducing the simply impossible images that make it even more difficult to deal with cellulite.  In the meantime, you can start feeling better about the way you look right now. You can instantly improve your figure, and start reducing the appearance of cellulite, as soon as you put on any of our the full-line of slimming, comfortable anti-cellulite shapewear.

More Cellulite Headline Busting

by Nima Rafizadeh on Sep 28 2017
1
It’s been over a year since we started busting cellulite headlines here on The Black Purple blog. It started as a way to underline the misconceptions and sheer lies about cellulite, like that you could get easily ‘rid’ of it, that are common in news media, and from those who prey on people who are embarrassed by their cellulite.  In the time since that first headline-busting post, there’s been some good news and some bad news. First, while a year ago we found almost nothing but false, sensational, ‘click-bait’ headlines promising ‘miracle cures’ for cellulite, today you’re just as likely to find body-positive posts that encourage you to embrace and live with your cellulite. The bad and most appalling news is that the phony, misleading headlines are still there and coming from otherwise reputable sources. So, without wasting another minute on fake news, let’s bust some more cellulite headlines. ‘Want to ditch your cellulite? Dermatology professor reveals which cures actually work’ – If you’re not familiar with the term ‘click-bait headline’ this is a perfect example. By using the word ‘cures’ in the title, the headline gives the impression that cellulite can be ‘cured’ (it’s not the plague!) and that the article reveals how. So who with cellulite wouldn’t click on that? But, almost as soon as it starts, the article uses more realistic wording like ‘reduce the dimples’ and ‘be wary of miracle cures’. In the end, no ‘cure’ is offered.  ‘Does Dry Brushing Really Reduce Cellulite and Help You Look Younger?’ Here’s one that’s trying to sell something that you don’t really need. The cellulite-reducing principle of the brush is that it “improves circulation and helps flush waste and toxins by stimulating the lymphatic system.” But you don’t need a dry brush to do that. A good massage from your partner will do the same thing and be lots more fun too.  ‘Can you really beat cellulite with just a cream?’ – The worst example of a terrible cellulite headline and story comes from one of the oldest, most respected news outlets in the UK. First, of course you can’t ‘beat cellulite’ – if you’ve been reading our headline-busting posts, you’d be wise to that one. But check out this excerpt from the article: “There are treatments that can get rid of cellulite, including the CelluBust treatment that Dr. Williams uses. The 12-week programme includes having carbon dioxide injected into the area and mesotherapy every two weeks, as well as a full at-home ritual.” Not only is this article nothing but an undisclosed advertisement for a sham product, but it makes a poor attempt to sound legitimate and ‘new’ with statements like ‘a full at-home ritual.’ Huh? Sounds like you’ll have burn some incense and recite cellulite-busting chants to make this one work. If want to spot a product or story that isn’t fake, look for one that backs up any claims with the results of independent clinical trials, like The Black Purple’s cellulite-fighting shapewear.
Start your healthy diet with lunch

Why Lunch is Great Place to Start Eating a Healthier Diet

by Nima Rafizadeh on Sep 18 2017
You can’t be blamed for being confused by the contradictory advice you might get about your eating habits, especially when it comes to your regular meals. You’ll find as much advice telling you it’s okay to skip breakfast as you’ll find reasons why you shouldn’t skip breakfast. And the jury’s still out on whether a big dinner is more beneficial than a smaller dinner. A healthy, balanced diet is key to managing your weight and the symptoms of excess weight, including your cellulite. The simple answer to questions like whether you should eat breakfast is that you need to find what works for you. Even if someone else says that skipping breakfast helped with their weight management, it doesn’t mean it will work the same for you. In any case, as you begin to develop your own healthy eating habits, it might be best to avoid all the attention that breakfast and dinner get, and start with lunch. Here’s why: 1. It’s the Middle Meal Even if you’re a grazer, eating small meals throughout the day, those you eat in the middle of the day are crucial to how well the plan works. For the more traditional ‘three squares’ approach, whether you eat or don’t eat breakfast, have a big dinner or small dinner, what you eat in between the two can make or break the program. For example, if you don’t eat breakfast, and avoid a solid lunch, it might make you to overeat at dinner as your body forces you to get the calories it needs – but gets too many at once.  2. You can Use it to Avoid Afternoon Crash Whether it’s due to your morning coffee, or sugary and starchy morning meals, many of us suffer an afternoon energy crisis that nothing short of a good nap can solve. But if  you have a nutrient-rich lunch, including healthy fats, protein and fibre to stabilize your blood sugar and energy levels, you can stay alert and avoid the crash.  3. It’s the Meal You’re Most Likely to Cheat On Even those of us who take the time to make healthy meals at home, lunch is often eaten outside the home. The sheer convenience of it, coupled with the idea that you’re eating healthily otherwise, makes fast food, and its excess sugars, salt and fats, a tempting option for lunch. Again, what works for you is unique to you. If you’re looking for a way to instantly improve your shape, start reducing the inches and the appearance of cellulite, check out the full line of slimming, anti-cellulite Mass & Slim shapewear.

Does Popular Science Show You the Way to Lose Cellulite?

by Nima Rafizadeh on Sep 12 2017
1
Whether really interested in science, a little interested or not at all, you might find something worth reading in Popular Science magazine. Popular Science has been around for almost 150 years, and like the name implies, the articles generally cover ‘popular’ topics related to science.  For most of us, there’s nothing really ‘scientific’ about cellulite. For most of us, cellulite is simply ugly fat that we could do without.  Like most traditional magazines that have made the leap to the world wide web, Popular Science has broadened the horizons of subjects it covers. Of course, considering that it’s part of our bodies, cellulite is a very scientific topic. But It’s not one that PopSci might have necessarily covered when it was only in print. So we were more than a little interested when we found an online PopSci article titled “Want to get rid of cellulite? There’s only one thing worth trying.” What? Popular Science telling us that there is actually something ‘worth trying’ to ‘get rid’ of cellulite? Here’s a magazine that previously carried articles written by Charles Darwin, Thomas Edison and Louis Pasteur, jumping on the ‘get rid of cellulite’ (not going to happen) bandwagon. How low the once mighty have fallen. What would they have to say? Turns out that they don’t tell you anything new. Ultimately, they advise that building your muscles is potentially the only solution. And then they shoot holes in that advice by pointing out that, in their words, “there is alarmingly little research on whether strength training helps cellulite.”  But, despite the link-bait headline, and the fact that their solution is, by their own admission, unsupported by science, PopSci might be inadvertently showing you the best approach to improving the appearance of your cellulite. As the article works its way towards its conclusion, it hits on some very real facts about cellulite. It’s when you put all of those points together than you discover the real way to fight cellulite. Here are some of the sub-headings in the article: There’s very little you can do about your cellulite Losing body fat will improve cellulite, but it won’t eliminate it Strengthening your muscles is probably the only potential solution Weave all those points together and you actually do get the best way to reduce your cellulite.  There isn’t much you can do, but there are many things that will help. Healthily lose weight to reduce the fat deposits that produce the appearance of cellulite Do some strength training to build up the underlying muscles, which changes how your body stores fat and improve the appearance of the skin that covers the muscle.  When you get the idea that, instead of using any one way to reduce cellulite, and that a combination of things may be a better approach, you’ll see the real value in cellulite-fighting shapewear. Mass & Slim shapewear by itself is clinically-proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite all by itself. So imagine the results you’ll get when you combine shapewear with other ways of reducing the appearance of cellulite.
How to prevent thigh chafing

How to Prevent Thigh Chafing this Summer

by Nima Rafizadeh on Aug 29 2017
Whether you call it thigh chafing or chub rub, it’s just as painful. By any name, it’s still skin irritation and, in this case, it gets more irritated with every step you take, especially in hot or humid weather. At its worse, it can become a rash of searing pain that literally stops you in your tracks. Perhaps even worse, it seems that what works to help prevent thigh chafing for one person doesn’t necessarily work for another. In other words, you have to try different solutions until you find the one that works for you. To help get you started, here are just a few ways you can prevent thigh chafing this summer. 1. Creams and Lotions There are lots of great creams and lotions that will prevent chafing, and there are lots of not so great creams and lotions that won’t. Products with zinc oxide, like Desitin, are popular and effective. Zinc oxide is like a universal skin irritation fix-it ingredient. It’s used in diaper rash products and sunscreens. The beauty of zinc oxide is that it is moisture resistant and it won’t stain your clothes, unlike vaseline. Body Glide is another popular solution that uses many natural ingredients, including eucalyptus oil and tea tree oil. 2. Bandalettes, Boxers and Anti-Chafing Shorts If your thighs don’t actually come in contact with each other, they won’t chafe. Bandalettes fit around your upper thigh, while the boxers and shorts are more like underwear with legs. All of them stop your thighs from rubbing together. 3. Shapewear Shapewear, like Mass & Slim Shorts deliver a couple of extra advantages that you don’t get from any other thigh chafing prevention solution. In addition to keeping your thighs from rubbing together and preventing chafing before it starts, Mass & Slim shorts help add shape to your thighs. Even more, the fabric of Mass & Slim shorts is infused with Tourmaline® beads that gently massage your thighs as you walk. The massaging action is clinically proven to reduce the circumference of your thighs and the appearance of cellulite. If your thighs are slimmer, the less they’ll rub together! Visit us to see the full-line of slimming, comfortable anti-cellulite shapewear that all help you instantly improve your shape and work while you wear them to reduce the appearance of cellulite.     (Bandalettes image: source)
Why celebrities are talking about waist trainers

Why is Every Celebrity Talking About Waist Trainers?

by Nima Rafizadeh on Aug 18 2017
This won’t be the first time we mention Kim Kardashian in one of our blog posts. As a beauty and style icon, lots of us look to her for ideas and trends to look our best.  So when we noticed Kim promoting waist trainers, on her Instagram account and elsewhere, it caught our attention. And when we took a closer look, we found lots of celebrities who use and promote waist trainers.  So what gives; why are so many celebrities suddenly into waist trainers? The Pros & Cons of Waist Trainers  First, there’s nothing ‘sudden’ about waist trainers. We’ve all seen those old movies where the lady of the house needs the help of a maid or two to strap herself into a corset. Today’s celebrities use waist trainers for many of the same reasons as wealthy women did 500 years ago, and a few more. They help to give you that much-desired ‘hourglass’ body shape They can, over time, reduce your waist size They can help lower your weight by making it difficult to eat bigger meals They can help improve your posture while you wear them Unfortunately, unless you choose the right waist trainers, you can also face a few drawbacks to using them.  Discomfort because of how tight the trainer needs to be to get any benefit Problems can include bruising, breathing issues and acid reflux Your core muscles can become weaker Difficulty in simply moving around What to Look for in a Waist Trainer If you find the right trainer, you can enjoy all the benefits and more, without the drawbacks. First, your waist trainer should be able to be worn comfortably all day. Second, it shouldn’t cause any problems like those listed above. Third, it should work to reduce your waist size while you go about your regular daily activities. The Mass & Slim Waist Shaper instantly adds well-proportioned body shape as soon as you put it on. As you wear it comfortably throughout the day, the Waist Shaper’s Tourmaline® beads gently massage your skin to not only reduce the appearance of cellulite, but they are laboratory-proven to reduce your waist & hip circumference. Wait until all those celebrities hear about this!

How to Look Slimmer in Clothes

by Nima Rafizadeh on Aug 02 2017
For anyone who wants to lose weight, it doesn’t really have to do with shedding some pounds. The truth is you’d just like to one day walk into the office or just hang with friends and not be self-conscious about your body. It would be fantastic just to have a moment free of the nagging thoughts about whether people notice your rolls, or to stop wondering why you can’t look more like your gorgeous cousin. Your health and wellbeing are the most important reasons for managing your weight. But the vast majority of people lose weight do so because they want to feel better about their appearance. And that can backfire when you choose ‘crash’ diets and unhealthy calorie cutting to get results as fast as you can. The Fastest Way to Look Slimmer Luckily for you, there are ways – at least four of them actually – for you to look instantly thinner by wearing the right clothing – and none of them are ‘wear black’, (but that’s a good one!) Here they are: 1. Wear One Colour Black doesn’t work just because it’s black. Wearing the same-coloured jacket and pants creates a continuous vertical line, which makes you look taller, and slimmer. 2. Use Vertical Stripes Hopefully we didn’t give this one away with the previous point. The beauty of clothing and fashion is that it creates perceptions and changes how people see us. The height-inducing perception of vertical stripes is a great example. 3. Get Properly Sized for Your Underwear Even the slimmest person can sport ‘rolls’ through their clothing if their underwear doesn’t fit properly. It’s believed that over 80% of women wear the wrong-sized bra. Go to a specialized store and get a proper fitting. You’ll look slimmer – and be more comfortable. And you’re worth the extra cost. 4. Discover Shapewear First, it’s far more comfortable than you think. Second, unlike ‘vertical stripes’ it doesn’t ‘trick’ anyone into seeing you as slimmer – you will really look slimmer – in anything you wear. Shapewear not just enhances your shape but it’s a great way to take care of ‘problem areas’, like hiding belly fat. From choosing the right jewelry, to wearing unadorned jeans, there are lots of other ways for you to ‘dress slimmer’. It may not be the complete answer to your health and wellbeing, but there’s nothing wrong with feeling better about yourself.

A Few Fashion Tips from the Cellulite Stars of Instagram

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jul 20 2017
We first tipped you off last year to the trend on Instagram of women proudly showing off their cellulite instead of covering it up or photo shopping it away. In an effort to help change her own attitude towards cellulite, and that of others, Kenzie Brenna began posting images of herself, with her cellulite front and centre, using the hashtag #CelluliteSaturday. Fast forward to today and you’ll find lots of body-positive Instagram accounts from women who are unafraid to post photos that flaunt their cellulite. Many of them have gained significant numbers of followers and community recognition for their efforts. Recently, Self.com published a list of body-positive Instagrammers who are celebrating 2017’s ‘Summer of Cellulite’. If nothing else, these Instagrammers provide some welcome relief – perhaps for the first time in public media – from the constant bombardment of media images showing impossibly slim and cellulite-free models and celebrities. And you just might get a few ideas of what to wear this summer. 1. High-Waist Shorts Yes, you can wear shorts. They are on-trend at the moment so take advantage of the opportunity to stay cool this summer in a properly fitted pair of high-waist shorts. 2. Try Lighter Summer Colours Black might be your favourite clothing colour for its slimming effect, but lighter shades can be a welcome change in summer. And you’ll enjoy the playful mood they create. 3. Nothing Wrong with Horizontal Stripes Yes, they can create the illusion of width, but you can use them in combination with solid colours to add attractive balance to your body. We’re not saying that everything you see on a body-positive Instagram account works for you. But if you’re looking for something that absolutely will work, take a look at the figure-flattering shapewear products from The Black Purple. Comfortable enough to wear all day, they are clinically-proven to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

Yoga! Yoga! Yoga! 3 Ways it ‘Liberates’ You from Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jul 11 2017
It’s taken 2,500 years, but finally science is catching up to what yoga practitioners have known for over two millennia: it works. New clinical studies and research emerges almost daily that offer scientific proof that yoga works for a variety of health issues. Like we said, if you practice yoga, you’ll know the health benefits it delivers. But if you don’t practice yoga, yet always wondered if it was for you, you might still be looking for more reasons to try it beyond all the ways yoga keeps you fit. Yoga for Cellulite Reduction Yoga’s benefits span the physical body, the mind and the spiritual self. While there are a broad range of yoga practices and schools, generally speaking, the ultimate goal of yoga is ‘moksha’ or various forms of liberation, including freedom from ignorance. Yoga can help ‘liberate’ you from cellulite too. Not in the sense of getting rid of cellulite, but by giving you the means to better manage it physically and mentally. Here’s how: 1. Physical Benefits of Yoga for Cellulite Reduction Simply the physical aspect of getting off the couch to do even a few yoga poses can help you reduce the appearance of cellulite just by burning a few more calories. But yoga also helps to build and tone muscles; the same muscles that are immediately under the layer of body fat that causes the appearance of cellulite. The result is improved skin tone and less dimpling effect on the surface of the skin. Here are 10 Yoga Poses that Help Fight Cellulite. 2. Mental & Spiritual Benefits of Yoga for Cellulite Reduction Again, if yoga simply manages to get you off the couch, you’ll probably feel pretty good about yourself. From reducing stress and depression, to giving you more peace of mind and self-esteem, the documented mental and emotional benefits help to set the stage for you to have a greater appreciation of yourself, including your body, cellulite and all. 3. Tackling Cellulite Directly with Yoga This one is the secret to getting a more direct benefit for reducing cellulite by practicing yoga. By regularly practicing your yoga poses in cellulite-fighting shapewear, you’re actually giving your cellulite a solid one-two punch of proven ways to reduce it. Imagine getting all the yoga-based benefits listed above while you wear shapewear that is actually designed and clinically-proven to reduce cellulite. Body-shaping shapewear is comfortable enough to wear all day, even for your yoga sessions. When you do, you combine the benefits of yoga for cellulite reduction with the massaging action of the shapewear for a great, overall cellulite-reducing workout.

How to Fight Cellulite from Within

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jun 22 2017
Thinking that, because it appears on your skin, you should try to tackle cellulite where you see it is probably the biggest mistake you can make in trying to reduce it. And just about all of us make that same mistake. It’s why you see so many ‘cellulite-busting’ creams, brushes and scrubs. But, although it appears on the outside, having healthier skin, and improving the appearance of your cellulite really starts from inside you. It might seem a little ‘inside out’, but here are some of the best ways to start fighting you cellulite from within. 1. Win The Mental Game If there’s anything that trips up a good plan, in just about any aspect of your life, it’s the wrong mental approach. Managing your weight is a good way to manage your cellulite. But if you hinge the success of your weight loss on the numbers on your weigh scale, or on reaching a certain weight in a certain time, both can set you up for failure. Instead, try to set yourself up for success to win the mental game. Start transforming your thinking from ‘numbers’ and more towards a healthier lifestyle. Set reasonable, attainable goals and celebrate every success. The successes you enjoy from a new mental approach will give you the confidence and motivation to set, and reach, the bigger goals later. 2. Get Physical We don’t mean join a gym and pump iron (unless that works for you!). Again, a drastic change or unreasonable expectations don’t usually end successfully. Instead, think about nourishing your body, take care of it the best you can, and add as much activity to your day as you’re comfortable with. Work on what’s healthiest for your body and don’t blindly jump into trying to change it. 3. Be Emotionally Invested Overeating or eating unhealthy foods is often the result of emotional stimuli. From media images to the reflection in the mirror, they can all trigger negative emotions that can lead to cellulite-friendly behaviors. Try to identify the triggers and do something about them. If you reach for the chips every time you see a bikini body on Instagram, stop following that account. If the mirror image gets you down, do something immediately to improve it, like wearing slimming shapewear that adds shape and definition as soon as you put it on. As always, there’s no one way to diminish the look of cellulite. It’s the result of a combination of approaches that are unique to you. But, by starting your efforts from within, you’re more likely to find the right approaches later on.

3 Easy-to-Adopt Habits that Help Stop Cellulite Before it Starts

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jun 13 2017
Whether or not you’ve found ways to be more at ease about your cellulite, it doesn’t mean you have to give up trying to look your best. Fortunately, many of the things that help you reduce your cellulite also contribute to your overall health. But, instead of focusing on the ‘after-the-fact’ idea of improving cellulite’s dimpled-skin symptoms, you can take steps in your day-to-day routine that will help stop your cellulite from appearing or getting worse.   1. Get Up, Stand Up If your job has you sitting at a desk for extended periods during the day, it could contribute to the build-up of fat cells that make cellulite look worse. Sitting reduces your circulation, which reduces the amount of strengthening oxygen and nutrients that get to your skin, and the amount of toxins that are flushed away from your skin. In addition to taking frequent breaks to stand, walk around and stretch, look for every opportunity you can to get up from your desk, including during phone conversations and whenever someone stops by for a chat. 2. Get Rid of the Junk It’s not called junk food for nothing. The ‘junk’ in junk food includes chemicals, impurities, unhealthy fats, salt and sugar, all of which can make your cellulite look worse. By simply switching your snack habits to include healthier foods, you will be taking a big step to improving the strength and appearance of your skin. 3. Hydrate Just like water washes away dirt and debris, so too can drinking more water help to flush away the toxins that make it more difficult for your body to metabolize fat cells. And just like rain makes a garden look healthier, drinking water helps strengthen your skin and makes it look smoother. You just want to look your best. Just a few new habits can help stop cellulite from happening in the first place, and wearing comfortable, cellulite-fighting shapewear will not only improve your figure as soon as you put it on, but it works to slim-down your thighs, hips and tummy for as long as you wear it.

Whenever he gets any bad media coverage, Donald Trump usually claims that it’s ‘fake news’. While that may be open to debate, there’s no denying that fake news exists, and nowhere more so than in the hype around getting ‘rid’ of cellulite. It could be argued that there is more fake news than real news about cellulite. But that creates a problem for you, the reader who only hopes to find ways to manage and/or reduce cellulite. How do you know which cellulite information you read is fake, or at least about a deceptive product, and which is the real information that might actually help you? While it’s almost impossible to always tell which news is solid and which is fluff, you can start looking for some of the more obvious signs that information is, at very best, misleading, if not completely fake. Here are just a couple things to look for: 1. Poorly Written Articles We see fake news about cellulite every day, but we weren’t quite ready for an article titled “They Say the Mutilator of the Cellulitis, Apply on Your Buttocks and Thighs and Surprise Yourself with Results”. The only ‘surprise’ is that anything so poorly written can still be found on the internet. Here’s the first sentence of the article “Cellulite is one of the big problems that generally irritates women and try to eliminate everything.” Huh?! One serious error this article is the use of the word ‘cellulitis’, which is not cellulite. Instead, according to the Mayo Clinic, cellulitis is a potentially dangerous bacterial skin infection. What would be truly dangerous is if anyone with cellulitis thought that the information in this article was real. 2. Any Articles with Titles that Imply Getting Rid of Cellulite You can’t get rid of cellulite. Or ‘banish’ it; or ‘eliminate’ it; or ‘blast’ it away, and so on. One of the worst examples we came across is an article titled “Can this Simple Tool Banish Cellulite?” Not only does the $90 ‘fasciablaster’ have no effect on your cellulite, the article ends up being a thinly-veiled promotional piece for ‘body guru’ Ashley Black. Ms. Black contends that cellulite is caused by “distortions in our fascia”. She is a self-proclaimed ‘fasciology expert’, but fasciology is not recognized as a ‘thing’ anywhere else. Every reference we found online to fasciology is connected to Ashley Black. There’s an old adage that can also help you spot the fakery: “if it sounds too good to be true, it probably isn’t.” If want to know how to spot a product that isn’t fake, look for one that backs up any claims it makes with the results of independent clinical trials, like The Black Purple’s cellulite-fighting shapewear.

What it Means to Live with Your Cellulite but Not Love it

by Nima Rafizadeh on May 31 2017
The recent efforts by celebrities like Kim Kardashian and Ashley Graham to promote a healthier body image and tackle body shaming by publicizing photos that plainly show their cellulite are to be applauded. The fact is that there is no single ‘normal’ for everyone and, if anything, it’s our unique differences that should be celebrated. The greater acceptance of it makes it easier to live with your cellulite. Not every single media image you see is of an unrealistically perfect body. But, at least for some people, it can be a mistake to think that while you can more easily live with your cellulite, you also must love it. Life isn’t perfect. There will always be things you don’t care for. But it’s a mistake to let those things rule your life. What it Means to Live With Cellulite It means not letting it ruin your life. It’s just cellulite. It’s not particularly harmful and nine out of ten women have it – including famous celebrities and models that we often think have ‘perfect’ bodies (whatever ‘perfect’ means). Living with cellulite means you don’t have to keep searching for the latest cream or scrub to get ‘rid’ of it. You can’t get rid of cellulite, so it’s best for you, mentally and physically, to live with it. What it Means to not Love Your Cellulite It means, instead of focusing on something you don’t like about yourself, focus on the things you love. If you love the people around you, if you love being healthier, if you love to look your best, then work on your relationships, eat healthier foods, and wear outfits that flatter your body. Interestingly, when you work on the things you love about your life, it helps you manage the things that you don’t, including your cellulite. The Black Purple’s cellulite-reducing shapewear helps you look your best in anything you wear.  Visit our website to learn more.

Top 4 Ways to Reduce Cellulite

You might not know it, but you probably show symptoms of the following: Adiposis edematosa Dermopanniculosis deformans Status protrusus cutis Gynoid lipodystrophy Orange peel syndrome First, you can relax. You don’t have a bunch of crazy ailments. In fact, it’s the opposite. These are all different names for cellulite, which isn’t an ‘ailment’ or any kind of disease or any indication that there’s anything wrong with you. By most estimates, about 90% of women show signs of cellulite. To get an idea of the harmlessness of cellulite, it helps to know exactly what it is. The name refers to the dimpled, orange-peel appearance of your skin, mostly on your butt and thighs. The bumpiness happens because of what’s happening just below the skin’s surface. Your skin attaches to your body with strands of connective tissue. They are sort of like the poles that hold up a large tent. Everyone has a layer of fat just below the surface of the skin. When that fat pushes up, your skin expands, except where it connects to your body. And that creates the dimples we call cellulite. Mass & Slim Shapewear Shorts $79.95 $99.95 Shop Now Mass & Slim Shapewear Leggings $89.95 $104.95 Shop Now It’s Perfectly Normal, But that Doesn’t Mean You Have to Like It As harmless as it is, you won’t find too many people who like the looks of cellulite. But the problem is, because it’s a perfectly natural condition and despite what you might read in magazines and on the internet, there’s no way to get ‘rid’ of cellulite. But you can definitely improve its appearance. If cellulite has lots of names, you’ll find even more tips and tactics to reduce it. To help you cut through the information overload, here are the four top ways to reduce your cellulite. 1. Weight Reduction Clearly, if the fat layer below your skin is at the root of your cellulite, then fat loss is a great way to make the dimples dimmer. But it’s a mistake to jump on the latest diet craze to try lose weight and make your cellulite look better. Fad diets don’t work. Most people end up putting the lost weight back on, and more. That makes your cellulite even worse. Instead, Choose a long-term weight loss program that will help you shed the pounds and keep them off. 2. Exercise Like healthily losing weight, exercise helps reduce the fat content of your body too. It also has the added bonus of toning the muscles that lie below your skin, and of helping to improve the look and health of your skin – all of which makes your cellulite less noticeable. 3. Massage Massage works on a number of levels to reduce your cellulite. First, it stimulates blood and lymph circulation, which has the dual effect of flushing out excess fluids and bringing in nutrients that make you skin look great. Second, the massaging action creates heat, which softens the connective bands under your skin. Third, it helps to smooth out the dimples. 4. Anti-Cellulite Shapewear As effective as it may be, the problem with massage is that few of us have the time and/or money to visit a masseuse often enough to see sustained cellulite reduction. But, made with tiny beads that gently massage your skin as you move, anti-cellulite shapewear delivers the cellulite-busting benefits of massage throughout the day. And shapewear gives you two other major benefits that you can’t get from regular massage. First, the constant motion of the shapewear over your skin creates heat that is clinically proven to reduce thigh and waist circumferences. Second, because it’s ‘shapewear’, it improves your figure the moment you put it on - and you can wear it comfortably all day long. Yes, you can reduce cellulite. And, if you use the ways listed above, you’ll also be doing a lot to improve your overall appearance and health too. Does Kim Kardashian Have the Best Outlook on Cellulite?

by Nima Rafizadeh on May 10 2017
She’s famous for two things. One, for being part of a famous family and social circle. Two, for her butt. Considering that’s all she’s had to work with, Kim Kardashian has done very well. It’s estimated that she made $52.5 million in 2015. She has tens of millions of followers on social media. “Keeping Up With the Kardashians”, in which she’s a regular, is now in its 10th year on television. Her name appears on a wide range of products, including a mobile game. And Time magazine named her one of 2015’s 100 most influential people. Typically, with their livelihood on the line, celebrities like to protect the God-given talents that have brought them fame and fortune. Singers will rest vocal chords before performances so that every note is pitch-perfect. Actors will continue to train to keep in peak form long after they become famous. With that in mind, you’d think that, with so much resting on her posterior, Kardashian would make sure it’s always presented in the best way possible. And she usually does. You’d be hard pressed to find someone who hasn’t seen images that highlight Kardashian’s butt. Shape magazine recently posted an article about paparazzi images of Kim in a bikini. It’s a subject that’s hardly newsworthy, even for celebrity news. But ‘Kim’s butt in a bikini’ was not the real news this time. Instead, the photograph itself was the thing – at least the fact that it didn’t appear to be posed, hand-picked over hundreds of others for portraying the subject in the perfect light, or even photoshopped. It’s a seemingly candid shot and there’s - *gasp* - cellulite on her bum and thighs! Kardashian herself has posted similar images recently on her Instagram account. But, as admirable as it is for Kardashian present herself in such an unfiltered way, knowing she’d suffer the onslaught of insults and body shaming, it is her attitude towards cellulite that may be most refreshing and helpful to anyone who feels shame about it. According to the Shape article, Kardashian is quoted in a 2010 interview as saying "I have cellulite, just like almost every other woman on the planet. And just because I feel secure with my body doesn't mean I think cellulite is cute! It will always be an issue for me. So let's just say it's a work in progress!" By simply saying that cellulite is an issue for her, Kardashian suddenly makes it less of an issue for so many others who compare themselves to the ‘perfect’ body images they see in the media every day. Yes, your cellulite isn’t cute, and, like Kim Kardashian, it’s an issue for you. But, like every issue, you can tackle it and make it better.

One Simple Trick that Makes it Way Easier to Eat Healthier Meals

Let’s just skip all the reasoning and same old ‘how to fight cellulite’ advice. You love to eat. You love to eat a lot. And you really don’t want to change that part of your life, regardless of whether it’s ‘emotional’ eating, or you’re getting too many carbs, or your calories count is off the scale. But, no matter how well you’ve come to terms with your eating habits. and how much you’re willing to live with your body – and cellulite - as it is, you still have those moments when you wish it wasn’t so. You would love to have a meal and feel almost pride in the fact that what you ate was relatively healthy and wasn’t adding to your weight. If only there was a way to make the transformation to healthy eating without being forced to give up any of the foods you like. But that’s impossible, right? Not quite. How to Start Eating a Healthier Diet & Keep Eating What You Like One of the problems with ‘switching’ to a healthy diet is exactly that, you make a switch that happens as quickly as turning on a light. So who can survive something as drastic as that? Instead, plan on keep your diet much and it is and make a ‘transformation’ instead. That means you can start eating some healthier foods at your own pace, without giving up what you love. Here are three ways to start your healthy eating transformation. 1. Eat a Serving of Vegetables Before Every Meal Yes, every meal, even breakfast. A serving is about the size of your clenched fist, so it’s not a lot of vegetables. Have them as raw as you dare. And stay away from dressings, cheese, or adding anything else to them. Then eat the stuff you really like. 2. Get 10 grams of Fibre with Each Meal First, the vegetables have lots of fibre, so you might already be part the way there with this one. A small serving of beans, or whole grain rice, or some almonds, or bran, or any other high-fibre food, will do the trick to add more fibre to your favorite meals. 3. Have Some Non-Red-Meat Protein Whether it’s chicken or chick peas, a small serving of healthy protein at each meal will also help you make the transformation without giving up all the foods you love. Yes, we know this suggestion is a bit of a ‘trick’. While we tell you that you can eat the foods you like, the idea is that, by making the transformations in your diet, you’ll eventually replace much or all of your unhealthy eating habits with healthy ones. But, by doing any one of the suggestions above, you’ll be taking a huge step towards better health, weight management, and doing something about your cellulite too.
