4 Ways to Improve Your Body Image

by Nima Rafizadeh on Mar 11 2016
The numbers are astounding. Over 90% of women don’t like what they see when they look in the mirror. On average, women have almost one negative thought about their bodies every hour. Negative body image can have some serious implications, including low self-esteem, eating issues and depression. But how can you avoid it? With hundreds of media images bombarding you every day and stereotyping all around, how can you improve your body image? One or more of the following steps can help. 1. Adjust Your Media Consumption If you shift your TV viewing habits, or some of the magazines you read, you can find other programs, articles and websites that are just as satisfying, but they are less likely to make you cringe when you look at yourself. 2. Take Small Steps to a Healthier Lifestyle No. We’re not saying you must change your body. A more balanced diet, more activity and other elements of a healthy lifestyle should be pursued or their own merit (which is a healthier you); not to lose weight. But the point is to not jump into it so deeply that you change everything you eat and do every day in one giant leap. Doing that reduces your chance of success. Instead, try one thing that will improve your health, like finding new, healthy snacks, instead of automatically reaching for the bag of potato chips. 3. Look for Alternatives If there are ways to help improve your self-esteem, to help you have a better impression of the image in the mirror, without making you uncomfortable or adjusting your life to the point that you hardly recognize it, then don’t be afraid to give it a try. Flattering clothing, shapewear or even a new hair style can all help you feel better about yourself, which will help you be more accepting of who you are. 4. Be Grateful The next time you have a negative thought about your body, stop for a moment. Consider everything you have. Think about your friends and family and how much they mean to you. Be glad for everything you have achieved and can achieve. Suddenly, the idea that your body doesn’t look like the bikini models on TV will not seem like so much of an issue. It really is up to you. Listen to yourself. Listen to how you speak to yourself and look for signs of negative body image. Then take steps to reduce or eliminate them.

Why You Don’t Have to Diet to Lose Weight

by Nima Rafizadeh on Feb 25 2016
Hallelujah! Now you can say good bye to all those whacky fad diets that had you eating fewer carbs, more carbs, less fat; on a 7-day plan, 30-day plan or 90-day plan; to lose 8 pounds, 20 pounds or more. It’s all over, you never have to go on a fad diet again. Why? Because dieting, especially fad, crash diets, doesn’t work for the vast majority of us. Depending on which research study you look at, only about 3% to 5% of us keep off the weight lost in a weight loss diet for longer than a few years following the end of the diet. Not only does that mean that 97% of us put back on the lost weight in less than three years, many people end up putting on more weight than they lost. Here’s why diets don’t work: 1. The Are Often “Unbalanced” Whether it’s a calorie reduced diet, or one that focuses on a nutritional category, like carbohydrates, most diets put your eating out of balance. To maintain optimal health, you must get your calories from a balanced proportion of macronutrients – fats, carbohydrates and proteins. Health Canada recommends that you get your daily nutrition from the following proportion of macronutrients (for adults 19 years old and older): a. Carbohydrates – 45% - 65% b. Protein – 10% - 35% c. Fats – 20% - 35% 2. They Focus on Numbers By forcing you to target a certain weight, your attention goes from achieving a healthier weight to reaching a certain numeric value. That’s not how to lose weight – at least not for the long haul. 3. They Can Damage Your Health The easy equation is the fewer calories you eat, the less weight you’ll put on and, eventually you’ll start losing weight. But to stay healthy, you must consume a certain number of calories every day. For women that’s approximately 2000 calories and for men, it’s about 2500 calories. When you deprive it of a minimum number of calories, your body can react in a number of ways. One of them is to slow down your metabolism to conserve your energy. That means, while you might be eating fewer than your recommended daily calories, you could still gain weight because your body has automatically reduced its caloric requirements.   The Only Diet That Will Lead to a Healthier Weight A balanced diet of healthy, nutritious foods is the basis on which healthy, and permanent, weight loss is built. The beauty of a heathier diet is that you get so many more advantages, from fewer illnesses to healthier skin, including less cellulite, better colour and a softer feel.

Reduce Sugar and Reduce Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Feb 18 2016
There are many frustrations that come from being overweight, including extra cellulite, low self-esteem and low energy, But worst of all is the difficulty of losing that weight and keeping it off. It can leave you with a sense of futility about ever being able to permanently lose even a few pounds. Unfortunately, unlike what all the crash diet advertisements promise, there is no quick, easy magic pill for losing weight. But that doesn’t mean that the only way to lose weight is the daunting prospect of forever changing your diet, exercise habits and lifestyle. Fortunately you have some easier options to help you lose and keep off a few pounds. That might not sound like much, but if you want to lose a lot of weight and just can’t get started, that first successful step can motivate you to take the larger leaps needed to get the results you want. We Eat Too Much Sugar We are simply in love with sugar. Our bodies crave it and it tastes great. But the result is that we consume far more sugar each day than we really need. And sugar is the simplest of carbohydrates, which means all the extra calories from all the extra sugar is quickly converted by our bodies into - you guessed it – fat. To give you an idea of how much extra sugar we eat each day, check out the following stats: • 5% - the percentage our daily calories that the World Health Organization recommends we get from sugar • 6 – the number of teaspoons of sugar that would give us 5% of our daily calories • 10 – the number of teaspoons of sugar in a can of Coca-Cola • 66% - how much more sugar we get from a single can of Coke versus what’s recommended by WHO • 16 – calories in a teaspoon of sugar • 23,360 – the number of extra calories we get in a year from the extra sugar in a single Coke per day. That’s almost seven pounds. And that doesn’t include all the other sugar you get every day. Easy Ways to Reduce Your Sugar Intake You can make some relatively easy gains for weight loss by simply reducing the amount of sugar you eat every day. Here’s some tips to help you get started: 1. Learn as Much as You Can About Sugar It’s not so easy to know how much sugar you eat. First, you’ll notice that, strangely, there are no “Percent Daily Values” for sugar on nutrition labels. Second, sugar can be listed as any of 56 different items on the list of ingredients in packaged food. These include molasses, sucrose and corn syrup. 2. Beware of Fruit Juice Many people dump the Coke in favour of a “healthy” fruit juice. But there is more sugar in some juices than in the Coke. Try real iced tea or vegetable juice instead. 3. Check Nutrition Labels Even without the percent daily values listed for sugar, and the fact that sugar has so many different names, nutrition labels do list how many grams of sugar are in the serving size listed on the label. One teaspoon is equal to four grams of sugar. 4. Have Fruit Juice Spritzers Want to enjoy your fruit juice but cut the sugar intake in half? Mix the juice 50/50 – or whatever ratio suits your taste – with sparkling water or, if you’re on a budget, water from the tap. 5. Satisfy that Craving With Fruit If you’ve reached this far and are still saying to yourself “no way can I stop grabbing a chocolate bar when the urge strikes”, then try this just once to see if it works. The next time you have an undeniable urge to eat candy, have an apple instead – or whatever is your favourite fruit. It has all the sweetness and it’s good for you too. There are far more ways for you to reduce the sugar in your diet than we can list here. All you need to do is to start making the effort.

Healthy-ish Living - Part 2

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 27 2016
In our last post, we told you about a trend called “healthy-ish” eating. Suddenly it seems to be the ”hot topic” in diet and nutrition circles and all you need to do is search the hashtag #healthyish on Twitter, Instagram and other social media to learn more, get recipes and, well, start eating “healthy-ish”. But the same principles that guide “healthy-ish” eating can be applied to how you live – and how you lose weight. A quote from a CBC.ca story on healthyish eating puts it all into perspective: "They (people trying to lose weight) tend to be extremely hard on themselves, and they're aiming for 100 per cent perfection," said Dieticians of Canada spokesperson, Andrea D’Ambrosio. "And the reality with healthy eating is that there's no perfection. It is basically we're doing the best we can with the circumstances we're in every day." Healthy-ish Everyday The idea that striving for perfection causes many of us to give up when we don’t achieve it lends itself well to our everyday lives and getting as much activity as we can each day. When we’re told to “exercise to lose weight”, the idea of gym memberships, embarrassing outfits and bicycling everywhere can turn off even the most motivated among us. Instead, if you try to make changes wherever you can in your life, you’ll improve your chances of success and sticking with it. Any activity is better than none. Instead of setting yourself up for failure by trying to be everything at once, start by doing whatever you can. Here are some examples: 1. Take One Flight of Stairs – How many times has someone told you that you should take the stairs instead of the elevator to help lose weight? And you live on the 12th floor. But try this just to get some extra activity into your trip home: get off on the 11th floor and walk up the last flight. Still too much? Get off on the floor above and walk down one flight. 2. Park Further Away – Have you ever spent what seems like an eternity driving around the mall parking lot looking for the absolute closest parking spot to the entrance? Why? You’re about to walk around a huge mall anyway. Save yourself some time and gas, and add a little more exercise to your day by parking a little further away. 3. Do Some Shopping Bag Curls - You can turn bringing home the groceries into a mini workout. As you’re bringing them into the house, or carrying them up the elevator, bend your elbow and try lifting the shopping bag up toward your shoulder. Don’t try it with a bag that’s too heavy and stop if you feel any pain. Use a bag that’s easy to lift. If you’re successful, try the other arm and continue to alternate as much as you can. If these ideas don’t appeal to you, use them as inspiration to come up with similar things that you can do throughout the day to add a little activity, burn a few more calories and lose a little more weight.

If You Can’t Eat Healthily, Eat Healthy-ish

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 22 2016
The third Monday in January is now known as “Blue Monday” – or the most depressing day of the year. While it may have started as a marketing tactic for a travel agency wanting to encourage vacations to warmer climes in the midst of winter, the idea of Blue Monday has struck a chord with many of us. The winter blues have been documented and up to 50% of Canadians report some physical or psychological symptoms, from simply feeling blah to diagnosable depression. For those trying to lose or manage their weight, the news is not any better. Research conducted by the Columbia University Medical Center shows that it’s normal to gain up to five or six pounds over the winter. And the extra pounds aren’t the only issue. Other symptoms, like cellulite and lower self-esteem, compound the problem. The quick answer is to change your eating habits and start exercising. But if you’re already in the winter doldrums, you’re not exactly in the best frame of mind to make major changes to your lifestyle. Fortunately, there’s an easier option. It might not deliver the same results, but it will put you on the right path and may even give you enough encouragement to stay there. Instead of attempting to make wholesale changes to your diet that you’re not likely to stick with (abandoned New Year’s resolutions anyone?), make small adjustments that are easier to keep. It’s Called Eating Healthy-ish Not only are you more likely to stick with smaller changes, you’ll also avoid the sense of defeat that comes from abandoning loftier goals. If you’ve failed to eat a completely healthy diet, try taking smaller steps and eat "healthy-ish”. Here are a few ideas to get you started: Healthy-ish Snacks – Snack foods are notoriously unhealthy. They must be because they taste so good. If you can’t wait to dig into chips and dip while watching TV at night, keep the dip, but enjoy it with mini carrots or whole-wheat flat bread instead. Or keep the chips, but dip them in hummus. Healthy-ish Fast Food – Can’t pass a McDonald’s without stopping for a Big Mac meal? Not only is it high in fat, but its salt content is over half your recommended daily intake. Carry a baggie of those same mini carrots, or some pods of peas, and have them with the burger and drink, in place of the french fries. Or carry low-salt vegetable juice and skip the Coke. Healthy-ish Fruit Juice – Contrary to popular belief, many popular fruit juices pack as much or more sugar than soft drinks like Coca-Cola. Unless you burn it off fast, the energy in all that sugar is stored by your body as fat. Try mixing your juice with water. Not only will you be surprised at how much of the flavour remains, you will reduce your sugar intake significantly and hydrate yourself at the same time, which has been shown to reduce cellulite. The underlying premise of eating “healthy-ish” is that it’s better to make whatever improvement you can to your diet than to avoid changes altogether because of your lack of motivation or fear of failure. And don’t worry, spring will soon be here.

The Absolutely Fastest, Bar-None, Sure-Fire Way to Lose Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Dec 07 2015
We’ll get straight to the point. The absolutely fastest way to lose cellulite is to not take the easy way out. Avoid any anti-cellulite treatment that claims to be the “fastest way to lose cellulite”. Most of all, avoid skin creams that claim to firm your skin and reduce cellulite “in a week”. The brutal truth is that cellulite is the result of fat cells getting between the connective tissue that lies just below your skin. So, while it gives your skin a bumpy appearance, it’s not a skin problem. And you can’t correct it with a skin cream. Want proof that life isn’t fair? While cellulite affects about 90% of women, almost no men have cellulite. The connective tissue, or collagen, below women’s skin is vertical, but men’s collagen is angled, which prevents fat cells from getting through. How to Really Get Rid of Cellulite So, if skin creams don’t work, what will? A planned, deliberate approach that uses a number of proven ways to help reduce cellulite and improve the appearance of your skin. Eat Right – Just by getting your recommended daily calorie intake from a balanced diet will help your skin to look better along with some of these foods to fight cellulite. The extra ‘empty’ calories that come from poor eating habits, like salty and sugary snacks, all get stored as fat. And that fat can make your cellulite worse. Be More Active – You don’t have to join a gym or spend a fortune on all the right clothing (unless you’re down for some shopping!). Just by adding more activity to your daily routine, you can burn more calories, which will help reduce your cellulite. Extra activities like taking the stairs instead of the elevator, parking further from the mall entrance and having a ‘walk and talk’ if you’re meeting with someone at work, will all contribute to the cellulite burn. Improve Your Circulation – Huh? How do you do that? When your circulation is poor, your collagen separates, which lets more fat get in under your skin. Massage therapy helps improve circulation. As does the extra activity recommended in point #2. The problem is that you probably can’t get a massage every day. One option is to wear massaging anti-cellulite shapewear daily. Shapewear features tiny beads massage your skin as you move and go about your daily activities. It’s like getting a day long massage without taking the time to do it. The Black Purple offers an exclusive line of comfortable anti-cellulite shapewear that not only improves your circulation, but also stimulates your body’s natural fat-burning abilities to help you lose pounds and reduce unsightly cellulite. Healthy Bodies Come in All Shapes & Sizes!

The Black Purple Promotes Healthy Living & Fatty Tissue Awareness TheBlackPurple wants you to be comfortable in your skin, and with your size.  We are not proponents of fad dieting and do not condone women trying to attain unrealistic beauty standards.  We are here to simply help you reduce the appearance of cellulite, which in itself is a sign of an underlying health issue.   Cellulite can happen to women of all shapes and sizes, as we have discussed previously.  The key to reducing and managing cellulite, is to lead a healthy lifestyle, be conscious of diet and exercise, and as much as possible, increase elimination of toxins from the body and daily regimen. Being Proactive in The Fight Against Cellulite & Maintaining Low Body Fat Percentage When we don’t take care of our diet in a wholesome manner, our internal organs develop excess fatty tissue, which leads to poor stamina and other problems.  Another result of this lifestyle is cellulite.  It is very important to stay informed on your body fat percentage and make efforts to lower it should it be too high.  Working with your doctor or trainer at the gym will help you establish and manage your body fat percentage while learning how to incorporate healthy habits into your daily life. Cellulite is not only found on women who are heavier.  Even skinny women experience cellulite at high rates, if they do not take care of their health, diet and fitness. Mass & Slim Shapewear: Improve Figure & Fight Cellulite   The Lanaform Mass & Slim shapewear products, meant to be worn as snug undergarments, specifically aid in the reduction of toxins in the body by improving subcutaneous and lymphatic flow – which in turn reduces any bumpy “orange peel” appearance and  improves the look of skin overall. Cosmetex Leggings: Fight Cellulite & Rediscover Firm, Smooth Skin   The Cosmetex Slimming Leggings is not shapewear, but are meant to be worn comfortably on their own while at home or in the gym, and are different in that they literally provide a “second skin”.  Cosmetex Leggings use fabric made with intelligent fibre with ceramic crystals and millions of microcapsules containing a complex of caffeine and extract of Forskolin to smooth skin and combat the appearance of cellulite.  Incorporating the use of our anti-cellulite slimming shorts, waist shaper or leggings will give your diet and fitness efforts the extra “push” they deserve to really see results.   The Most Important Aspect of A Womanès Beauty Is Her Confidence! When a woman is confident in herself and comfortable with her body, it shines through for everyone to see.  There is nothing more attractive than a confident woman who is not afraid to put herself out there and succeed, no matter what her size.  Cellulite does not have to hinder your confidence any more.  Plus-sized or pint-sized, with Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products, you don’t need to hide in the gym change room, or on the beach, or in the bedroom. The Black Purple Has Your Anti-Cellulite Solution! Lanaform’s line of anti-cellulite shapewear is here to work with the size and shape of your body, and simply improve the appearance of your skin, while toning and firming the areas where you need it most.  There are no complicated techniques or time-consuming tricks to using Lanaform shapewear – just put it on and away you go.  Mass & Slim and Cosmetex work with your body for 8 hours a day, while you go about your daily routine. What is stopping you from being the fully confident woman you know you are?

Resolutions Are Made to Be Broken – And Re-Made. Ok Ladies, Spring is just around the corner – like, literally a couple days away.  Have you kept up your New Years’ Resolutions?  And what about your “new” resolve to renew your New Years’ Resolutions?  It’s only natural to want to commit to all kinds of lifestyle changes once January 1st hits, but TheBlackPurple understands that it is only human nature to want to enjoy life and all the indulgences it affords, despite our best intentions.  You have done nothing wrong.  You’ve been living your life based on what is happening in it at the time, and sometimes that involves less attention paid to healthy eating and regular exercise.  Sometimes the demands placed on you in your daily life do not allow room for the needed dedication to your resolutions… this is NORMAL – and totally acceptable. Take Control of The Time You Have Left. So what are you going to do NOW?  With Spring just days away, and Summer not far behind it, it might seem that time has run out to make any significant change in order to be ready for the warmer seasons.  TheBlackPurple is here to tell you that it is NOT TOO LATE.  In fact, you have just enough time to start using our anti-cellulite shapewear and slimming products within the recommended usage timeline to see the results you want!  Our shapewear for women line does not require any time-consuming application of lotions or creams, no downtime or discomfort while wearing.  The only commitment you need to make is 28 days of consecutive wear of any or multiple Lanaform products to get yourself on the path to a righteous new bikini-ready you! Warmer Weather Will Not Affect The Comfortability of Lanaform. You might be asking “isn’t it going to be too hot out soon to be wearing these undergarments?”  The simple, short answer is NO.  Our products are made from breathable, flexible, stretchy viscose bamboo fabric, and on the contrary to the widely-based belief that an extra layer of undergarments will make you overheat – our products in no way raise your body temperature or cause excessive sweating.  Our products are also recommended for strenuous physical activity and ideal for wearing under gym clothes, and in no way do they cause elevated body heat – on the contrary, the fabric raises the cutaneous temperature of the skin, which in turn helps to keep the body cool. We know that Spring temperatures can go up and down, never reliably warm or even hot.  Why waste the remaining months before bikini season by not taking action?  You can easily wear Mass & Slim Shapewear Leggings, slimming shorts or anti-cellulite waist shaper under any spring outfit… and the Cosmetex Leggings are perfect for wearing on their own with any lightweight top to keep cool as the warmer months approach. TheBlackPurple Products Are Affordably Priced to Resolve Your Cellulite Issues. Your budget and upcoming plans may not allow for any of the other options we’ve listed in our Ways to Combat Cellulite article.  Our shapewear is the perfect solution for your last-minute body improvement plan, and affordably priced.  Each of our products fall in the $65-$90 price range – and compared to other anti-cellulite solutions, you cannot find a more user-friendly, more effective value.  Who has time to apply lotions and creams on cellulite-ridden areas on a daily basis?  Wouldn’t you rather just slip into your Mass & Slim easily  & quickly on your morning rush out of the house?   Wouldn’t you rather look better instantly in your outfits thanks to the immediate slimming effect the Lanaform products have under your clothes? Lanaform Mass & Slim and Cosmetex Products Have Your Bottom Line in Mind. Cellulite & Learning How To Fight It – TheBlackPurple Way!

by Nima Rafizadeh on Mar 04 2015
In my 36 years I have always tried to adhere to healthy living, and in general I succeeded. Being “health conscious” to me means getting the essential food groups and nutrients in your daily diet, exercising regularly, getting enough sleep, limiting toxic items like alcohol, cigarettes and processed food, and overall, managing stress. At 5’11” and what my mother would call “big-boned”, I had a propensity to gain weight if I did not keep an eye on my diet and stay very active. In my lifelong quest to maintain a healthy, comfortable weight, I tried many pills claiming miracle weight loss or fat burning, or some new exercise routine that promised fast & easy results with little effort. After all of this experimenting, I still came to the same conclusion: the tried and true method of eating healthy and exercising regularly is the best way to lose excess weight and keep it off. As we all know, the metabolism slows down as we age, and we lose about 5% muscle mass every year after reaching the age of 35. Where I once prided myself on maintaining a fairly fit physique, I was finding it more and more difficult to keep extra weight off. This is a frustrating experience when you know how much effort you are putting into your health and physical state. In addition to this, I started noticing that although I had never had a problem with cellulite previously, suddenly I was noticing dimples in cetain areas – and I did not like it. Now since I had never had to deal with cellulite, I didn’t have the first clue what to research on how to fight it. I had always passed by the anti-cellulite creams and lotions in the store, thanking the stars that I didn’t need them. I found myself in a conundrum – I may be getting older, but I am sure as hell not going to take this cellulite situation lightly! I started to look for solutions that would fit both my budget, and my busy, active lifestyle. A friend told me about Lanaform, and that it was the number one product in Europe for anti-cellulite shapewear that had just recently been brought to Canada and the U.S. Lanaform has had tremendous success and great results in clinical studies. Their Mass & Slim and Cosmetex shapewear are easy to wear, made of gentle, breathable fabrics that can be worn under clothes undetected. At this point I decided I had nothing to lose, and purchased both the Mass & Slim Slimming Shorts and Cosmetex Slimming Leggings. The first thing I have to say about Lanaform and TheBlackPurple is how quick and easy the ordering process and delivery was! I received my products 2 days after ordering, even though the website said on average 3-5 business days. Bonus! Free delivery always works for me too. I tried the Cosmetex Slimming Leggings first since I planned to be home all day. They are like a silky second skin and I immdediately loved the way my legs and bottom looked!! I would say that these leggings are less of a support garment and more of a secret skin silkening power tool! Cosmetex really do enhance your shape, giving an overall much sexier appearance and no one knows the difference from regular old black leggings but wonders why you look so good. The softness of my skin was instantly noticeable after wearing, not only by me but by my boyfriend as well. I only wish I’d bought a Large instead of a Medium since I am so tall… otherwise totally recommend – Cosmetex is a fantastic product! Now, for la Piece de Resistance… the Mass & Slim Slimming Shorts! I cannot say enough about this wonderful product! It takes a bit of getting used to the not-so-pretty appearance, but let’s be honest – they are in actuality a medical-like device. We are wearing them under our clothes and they are constructed more for form and function than a sexy underwear item. It pretty much only took me one day of wearing them before I was hooked. The thin, breathable fabric moves with your body, does not roll or constrict in any uncomfortable way – and this is important when wearing them for 8 hours a day every day. I felt so at-home in the Mass & Slim Shorts that I couldn’t wait to put them back on every day. They work well under pretty much any outfit, I wore them to the gym regularly and washing is simple in cold water followed by hang-to-dry. After using both the Cosmetex Leggings and Mass & Slim Shorts consistently for the recommended 28 day period, I definitely lost inches around my hips, thighs and waist. I see a significant improvement in any dimpling I was starting to notice. I feel tighter and more firm. The Mass & Slim Shorts come quite far up the rib-cage so they were more effective around my mid-section than I had even hoped for! I have become so accustomed to wearing these products that I intend to continue wearing them as part of my daily routine and plan on buying new items after the recommended number of washes. It has been a long time since I have been as happy with an online purchase as I have been with my Lanaform shapewear from TheBlackPurple. I will definitely be helping them spread the word because every woman concerned about her shape or cellulite needs to know about Lanaform. Thank you to TheBlackPurple and their amazing team!

Treating Cellulite with Surgery Popular Surgical Options Include: Cellulaze Smart Shapes Pros Effective According to doctors, Cellulaze is the newest technology available and goes directly after the actual biological structures causing cellulite.” Immediate Results – with further improvement over the following 6 months. Usually only one treatment required. Lasts up to one year. Cons EXPENSIVE - $5-7K Usually only appropriate for people moderately overweight. Numerous side effects include bruising, swelling, numbness and mild discomfort.  Cellulite is subject to a grading system and Cellulaze cannot completely get rid of it.  Depending on what grade of cellulite a woman has, she can expect to achieve a reduction of two to three levels. Possibility of fluid leakage from incision sites. Treating Cellulite with Laser/Light Therapy Range of treatments use massage / suction to stimulate collagen production and alter the underlying membranes so they don’t pull as hard on the skin, causing dimples. Treatments also use heat energy to help shrink fat cells (your liver processes the fat). Pros Relatively painless. Cons Expensive - Requires 4-8 30 min sessions ($300-$500 per session) to see a 50% reduction.  Approx 2 sessions per year for maintenance thereafter. Results are often only temporary. Treating Cellulite with Massage / Endermologie Gentle suction with two active rollers, similar to 2 rolling pins, and a hard, motorized vibrator massage of the skin.  The intent is to reduce the thickness of the subcutaneous fat layers, improve blood flow and increase lymphatic drainage, resulting in better elimination of excess fluid and fat cells.  Endermologie is often performed following a tumescent liposculpture procedure, to smooth the appearance of the treated area. Pros Backed by clinical studies. Takes under 45 minutes. No surgery or incisions. Performed on an outpatient basis, no anesthesia required. Can be administered in several areas, including the hips, stomach, arms, back and thighs in a single session. Noticeable skin tightening and body contouring effects. Cons Expensive because the products used are costly. Painful. Results often negligible and little research has proven guaranteed results. Has been said to simply cause swelling so that the cellulite is less noticeable, but the cellulite remains in place. Treating Cellulite with Creams Pros Low-cost – ability to try out different brands / companies. Easy to Use. No downtime / recovery. Available at most drug & department stores, and online. Plentiful reviews on various brands from real users. Effective when used in conjunction with regular exercise. Acts as moisturizer. Cons Results take time. Not suitable for pregnant women. Does not work for everyone – may not work with high cellulite. Other health conditions may lessen potency. May cause irritation. Treating Cellulite with Exercise & The Gym High-intensity cardio with interval-training will greatly improve body’s fat-burning abilities.  Variety of targeted exercises available to help  improve appearance of cellulite-ridden areas. Pros Exercises can be done at home, for free. Alternatively, gym memberships are relatively inexpensive compared to other methods of cellulite reduction. Many other health benefits associated with maintaining regular exercise. Cons Results take time. Must maintain consistency. Diet is key in weigh and fat loss, cannot rely solely on exercise. Treating Cellulite with Pills Types vary from herbal supplements to synthetic and prescription Pros Added benefits from herbal supplements – can increase collagen and improve oxygen supply. Less expensive than spa treatments. Cons Little research to prove efficacy in cellulite reduction. More expensive than a gym membership. Treating Cellulite with Anti-Cellulite Slimming Shapewear Revolutionary anti-cellulite slimming shapewear, made from innovative fabrics that redefine the figure with a highly targeted effect.  Helps correct and sustainably refine unsightly areas thanks to the patented TOURMALINE massaging ceramic beads.   Meant to be worn for 28 days consecutively for 8 hours a day, the ceramic beads exert a constant micro-massage that helps blood flow and lymph drainage, thereby reducing the dimpled appearance of the skin. 3 Bad Habits to Break that Cause Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Feb 11 2015
Combating cellulite is not just about exercising and eating healthy but it's also about breaking some bad habits that most people don't associate with cellulite appearing. Here are 3 common everyday bad habits that help cause cellulite: Smoking Gone are the days of smoking being associated with glamour and being “cool”. With rampant anti-smoking laws in effect, and the interminable list of health risks linked to it, it is a wonder anyone even smokes anymore. But sadly, the industry is still thriving, despite restrictions on designated smoking areas and advertising across the country. In a time where information and warnings on the dangers of smoking abound, it is hard to believe how many smokers still exist. Cellulite is one of the risks due to smoking, and although hardly the most concerning of health issues associated with it, it is nevertheless a real byproduct of the nasty habit. Cigarettes are mainly made up of many toxins that affect the circulation of the blood, and affect how much blood successfully gets to your skin. These toxins will affect the composition of the skin, by breaking down collagen. This ends up loosening the skin, allowing fat cells to penetrate it, causing cellulite. Continuing to smoke will only counteract any positive methods you use to attempt to banish cellulite – polluting the body and negating any attempts at detoxification. Alcohol Aside from the obvious fact that alcohol contains excess calories that, when trying to maintain a caloric regime appropriate to weight loss or weight maintenance, the problem lies in the fact that these calories go straight into the fat cells. This happens because the body prefers to use alcohol metabolites as a source of fuel, which forces the calories in the carbohydrates and fats to be stored as fat in the fat cells. Drinking often leads to eating more, adding insult to injury with increased caloric consumption – usually at night – the most precarious time of day to be eating. Alcohol harms the liver’s ability to function and detoxify, lessens overall energy in the body, and over time, causes water retention. When served in cocktails or in beer, with sugars / refined carbs, the effects are worse. And let’s not kid ourselves: a night of drinking will more than likely lead to a day of less activity, more overeating, and possibly more smoking. Young women often keep social agendas that include frequent alcohol consumption, and they are at a higher risk for developing cellulite if these habits are not kept in check. Mass & Slim Shapewear Shorts $79.95 $99.95 Shop Now Mass & Slim Shapewear Leggings $89.95 $104.95 Shop Now Caffeine The trend coffee has taken in the last few decades seems to have gone the opposite way from that of smoking. In metropolitan areas there are coffee houses nearly every few shops, and the scene isn’t much different in smaller urban areas. Coffee fanaticism has reached nearly epidemic proportions and shows no signs of stopping. With no restrictions or government health warnings on consumption, the attempt to curb coffee drinking might become that much trickier. How does one start the day without that beloved cuppa-cuppa? To successfully lessen our coffee consumption we will need to look at our coffee differently, and see it for its’ potentially harmful effects. The effort this will take will vary greatly on an individual basis, depending on how much coffee you drink in an average day. If you cannot completely quit your morning fix, one coffee per day should be ideally the max. Again depending on how you take your coffee, or what variation of caffeinated beverage you choose – the most glaring of facts is again, the extra calories consumed. Cream, sugar, whipped cream, flavoured syrups – are all added calories that could be avoided. And the caffeine itself has been proven to store fat. How so, you ask? Caffeine raises the levels of the stress hormone cortisol and insulin in our bodies. And when insulin levels change and blood sugar levels increase, we may be tempted to add sugary treats to our beverage. Although topical application of caffeine has been found to stimulate skin and is in cellulite treatment, caffeine over-consumption is skin’s enemy because it lowers with your blood circulation. Skin requires a regular blood supply to stay looking young and healthy. A lack of oxygen leads to dark circles, puffiness, and fine lines. The same effects too many late nights and morning espressos have on our face… can be seen in the lower area of the body as well. When skin is being robbed of vital nutrients, it’s going to look dry and dehydrated—and that will make your cellulite worse. What Now? Adopting a healthier lifestyle that does not involve smoking or over-consumption of alcohol and caffeine will be key in the treatment and reduction of the appearance of cellulite. Also consider using Lanaform’s Cosmetex and Mass & Slim shapewear slimming in conjunction with a healthy lifestyle is the simplest, most cost-effective way to lessen the appearance of cellulite, with proven results. Consuming Fats: The Cellulite Link

by Nima Rafizadeh on Feb 06 2015
There has been a misguided and over-propagated idea over the last decade that in order to lose weight, the food we consume must be low-fat or non-fat. The problem with following this advice lies in the fact that the human body requires a certain amount of certain types of fat in order to stay healthy and continue to function at an optimal level. Typically, we refer to fats as either “good fat” or “bad fat”. The easiest way to differentiate between the two is to think about “good fats” – mono or polyunsaturated fats –as occurring naturally in much of the oils, nuts, and fish we consume. “Bad fats” – saturated or “trans” fats – are found mostly in processed, “non-natural” foods, like chips, baked goods, fast food, and the list goes on. In the battle of the bulge and for an overall healthier lifestyle, it is best to “get back to basics” and choose raw foods, staying away from anything highly processed or genetically modified. Getting the Fat Your Body Needs To deprive your body of the good fats that it requires, will only do you a disservice in your attempts to lose weight. Good fats provide many benefits, and can be found most often in foods such as: Oily fish, like as Salmon, Tuna or Trout Avacados Coconut, Olive or Rapeseed Oil Nuts, like Almonds, Walnuts & Pistachios Eggs Flaxseed Finding ways to incorporate these foods into your daily diet will not only assist in your weight loss efforts, but will lower cholesterol, which will improve your overall heart health, lessening your risk for heart attack or stroke. More Benefits of Good Fats: Curb junk food cravings Better vitamin and antioxidant absorption Build muscle Burn fat Detoxifying & Flushing With Fats: The Cellulite Angle Again, the easiest way to look at how fat contributes to cellulite is to think in terms like “clean”, “natural”, “antioxidant-rich”, and so forth. The more your diet includes these types of foods, the closer you are to getting rid of cellulite. Eating organically is a great option as you don’t have to worry about chemicals toxifying your body. Cutting back on coffee and increasing your green tea intake is one of the easiest steps to detoxifying and eliminating waste and fat in the body. Too much consumption of bad fats has been proven to slow down metabolism and decrease muscle tone. Consuming good fats will keep you feeling full longer, and you will be less likely to snack between meals. Fat has a direct slowing effect on how sugar reaches your bloodstream, so some good fat should always be added to a meal. When you consume too much of the bad fats, your body feels sluggish, and you are less likely to want to exercise. The visible fat on meat is something to avoid, the fats in foods that prolong shelf-life, and the fats used in pastries, pies, muffins & cakes are big no-no’s. Salad-dressings labeled as “low-fat” are also big culprits – they are likely full of sugar which in turn will lead to weight gain and possible cellulite. Improve Your Body's Circulation, Improve Your Results! By swapping out much of the bad fats in your diet for good fats, you are helping your body detoxify and your organs will in turn perform better. As your body’s performance improves, you will start to notice the pounds melt off. Lanaform’s Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products are meant to improve your circulation and help with lymph drainage, thereby reducing the appearance of cellulite. When used in tandem with fat-conscious eating, our shapewear from TheBlackPurple.com will take your anti-cellulite fighting powers to the next level.

Maintaining Positivity

by Nima Rafizadeh on Feb 04 2015
No one body is perfect. Not the bodies of the magazine models, not the ones of the superstar athletes, not the ones of the commercial spokespeople, not the ones of the newscasters or the fitness gurus we see on TV. Yet on a daily basis we are trained like Pavlov’s dogs to see what appears to be perfection and in turn, almost without even realizing it, subconsciously remind ourselves that unless we attain the same perfection, we will never be good enough. Good enough for who, though? Good enough for our partner – or perhaps the partner we are trying to find; colleagues, competition and the world in general – even the strangers on the street who we might fear are silently judging us. “Good enough” to attain the dream life that includes the accolades of success in a great job, the admiration of our peers, and the love and acceptance from family and friends. Although it may seem that in today’s fast-paced, high-pressure world, that appearance is more important than ever – in reality it has long been placed in the forefront of the mind of society as the key to achieving success and happiness. The portrayal of an ideal world thanks to an ideal body has existed since media was invented. So – in reminding ourselves of this fact, we must remind ourselves also that although valiant and consistent efforts to improve and maintain our outwardly appearance are admirable – they are not the “be all and end all” to our existence – and that maintaining a positive outlook and attitude about it are above-all the most important aspects of “looking good.” Easy Ways to Stay Positive Slow & Steady Wins the Race Rome was not built in a day. Quick-fix weight-loss plans and fad diets will never get you the long-term physical results you seek. Body changes take time, and they require a commitment of steady-paced, focused effort. Food choices need to be thought out, exercise needs to be mapped out, and most of all, both these aspects require ongoing execution in a detailed manner. Keep It Simple Complicating matters only complicates matters. Being well-armed with the right tools and information on how to keep your exercise and diet regime simple is paramount. Know where to find the most nutrients, and incorporate them into your regime wherever you can. Know which exercises net the most effective results – and use them. Exercise Regularly & Eat & Sleep Well Staying active on a regular basis will not only keep you in better shape, but the endorphin release will surely contribute to a more elevated mood and positive outlook. Any physical activity that you find entertaining will keep you both motivated and committed. Get a buddy onboard with your workout activities and see how it helps your drive and stamina. Mass & Slim Anti-Cellulite Shorts & Leggings: Why They Work

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 25 2015
Cellulite is an issue that many women deal with, regardless of their weight, shape or size. Everyone wants to look their best, be it in daily life, on the beach, or in the bedroom. Cellulite is not something we are born with, but rather appears over time. It can appear for hereditary reasons, or due to poor diet, from insufficient daily exercise or persistent lifestyle choices such as excessive alcohol intake or frequent smoking. Given this vast array of factors influencing the body’s likelihood to develop cellulite, it is no wonder women are concerned about it and are constantly trying to find ways to combat it. Your Time Matters With the time constraints most women feel are placed upon them in an average day, week or month, the best solution to any beauty problem should involve an affordable, non-invasive, user-friendly, effective, medically-proven product or technique. Lanaform’s Mass & Slim and Cosmetex shapewear products are exactly that. These products have an immediate effect seen and felt upon wearing them, and continue to improve the shape of the body, providing a constant massaging and toning of the skin. Easy Like Sunday Morning Lanaform Mass & Slim & Cosmetex products have been medically proven to work and have attained a very high level of satisfaction from participating women in the scientific studies. The number one reason women are so happy with these products is that there is next to no time invested in order for them to work. You just put them on and go about your day. No messy, time-consuming creams to apply, no supplements to remember to take, no expensive injections or surgery requiring down-time. Lanaform products work while you work, while you play, even at rest. Science! Lanaform anti-cellulite products use innovative slimming fabrics made from Bamboo Viscose, Tourmaline and bio-ceramic crystals. It is thanks to the incorporation of these dynamic, avant-garde fibres and technologies that the Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products enjoy such a high success rate in the fight against cellulite. Bio-crystals contained in the fabric stimulate cell metabolism and improve blood flow at skin level – emitting a heat energy called Far Infrared Rays on contact with the skin. This process works with the body's lymphatic drainage system to melt away the subcutaneous fat layer and toxins responsible for cellulite. Detection & Comfort The Mass & Slim products, worn under clothes, are not noticeable and permit you to go about your daily activities with the knowledge that your secret is safe. Business or casual attire, and gym clothes alike can be worn over Lanaform products with no added bulkiness or demarcation lines. Regardless of extensive movement or intense exercise, they do not bunch or roll up/down. The wearer can rest assured that these products will stay in place. In addition, and unlike some other brands of shapewear on the market, Lanaform products are above all comfortable, and breathable. There is no overheating, increased sweating, or chafing as a result of wearing Lanaform shorts or leggings. Lanaform: The Right Price, The Right Choice For all of the above reasons, the choice to incorporate Lanaform into your daily routine should be simple. But to make your decision even easier, we offer our products at an extremely affordable price. Shipping is no extra cost, and is expedited to you within 3-4 business days. Waist Slimming Exercises

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 23 2015
In an ideal world in 2015, we are all in agreeance that no one single tactic will help you reach all your weight loss and fitness goals – rather, it is with the correct and consistent application of a variety of techniques that best results are achieved. No amount of exercise will shed desired pounds if the health-conscious diet is not kept up. Conversely, the most meticulously-adhered-to diet does little in the way of shaping and toning the body without a regular workout routine. One of the trickiest spots to trim and tone is the waistline – but by using the right moves when you exercise, it might not be as hard as you think. Lanaform’s Mass & Slim Waist Shaper belt provides a breathable, comfortable, completely flexible firming and toning effect that can easily be worn during these exercises to help you attain your smaller waistline. It is not noticeable under clothing and in addition to giving your physique an instant slimmer look, it will help to engage your abdominal muscles during your workout. Leg Raises Leg raises strengthen the rectus abdominus and hip flexors, the support muscles that help keep your abs properly positioned and taut, or engaged. They can be done lying down, seated, or hanging, and each of these movements helps to tweak just a slightly different area of these abdominal zones. Since the lower abs and their support muscles can be problem areas for a lot of women, we recommend incorporating as many different variations as possible for best results. The Mass & Slim slimming belt covers the entire abdominal area and ends past the mid-hip point, which will sharpen your focus on the contraction areas as you complete this move. Rowing Using the rowing machine on a regular basis can absolutely do you no wrong. It is considered by some as one of the most effective cardio exercises for fat-burning and toning, because it uses about 83% of your muscles. This calls into action a speedier fat-burning effect, and in turn tones your body more overall. The rower will target your core area more effectively than any other cardio machine in the gym and you will notice the difference quite quickly. This cardio exercise will specifically increase the massaging effect of the tourmaline beads in our waist shaper slimming belt. This machine is addictive! Use The Ball PlankThe stability or “exercise” ball is a classic tool found in all gyms and can be easily and affordably used at home in all sorts of ways to tone and trim the entire body – and specifically the waistline. It also comes in various sizes to better suit your body size and fitness goals. A well-executed, stable sideways crunch with feet firmly planted on the floor will do wonders for your obliques. Performing curl-and- squeeze or curl-and-lift movements will target the lower abs and help minimize the dreaded “pot-belly”. The Mass & Slim Belt stays firmly in place during these moves and will not roll or bunch. Planks Enjoying a huge surge in popularity due to social media over recent years, The Plank has become a favourite mid-section toning exercise. In a “pass-the-torch” trend-like fashion, people have been posting photos of themselves in all sorts of precarious or humourous situations in places all over the house, the neighbourhood, and even the world. A long-time favourite of Yoga and Pilates practicioners, the pose went viral in this fashion over the world-wide-web and is now a common staple of even the novice athlete or gym goer. By balancing oneself on one’s toes and hands – or forearms – in a raised, flat & supported state, the entire abdominal wall is called into action. By pulling in the abs in a constant taut manner over a period of a minute or longer – the stomach area will gradually appear firmer and smaller. The Plank can be modified and done to the side or as “lifts” to work various parts of the abs area.’ A trimmer waistline is not out of your reach. Lanaform’s Mass & Slim Belt works in tandem with your body’s movements during these ab exercises and will leave you wanting to work even harder as you feel the firming effects. Along with eating the right foods to fight cellulite, making these few essential moves a regular part of your fitness routine is sure to show substantial results in no time!

How to Reduce Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 12 2015
With the continual improvement and increasingly viable methods of technology, media, marketing & photography being offered over the last 70 years, and the often-idealized image of a woman that is portrayed among them, it is no wonder the Anti-Cellulite “revolution” has come to the forefront. It can arguably be said that the battle to reduce or get rid of cellulite is a higher topic on women’s list of health concerns than general weight loss – as cellulite affects women of all shapes and sizes, and you don’t necessarily need to be overweight to acquire it. Special treatments such as injections, radio frequency, lasers and CO2 therapy are all the rage in spas and surgeons offices around the world. Although clients report initial improvement with these methods, the results are usually only temporary and require ongoing maintenance, which can be costly. Overall, the war against cellulite can be won by establishing a conscious, consistent healthy lifestyle – and this involves many plans of attack – as we will illustrate below. Diet Above all else, a well-rounded diet is key – one that includes mainly a LOT of vegetables and fruits, good fats found in fish oils, beans and nuts, and as little processed food as possible. In another article we outline 8 specific foods that help reduce cellulite. You can find it here. Water Flushing the body of toxins with an abundant daily intake of water is paramount. Less Salt, Less Sugar Also mentioned in our article on Cellulite-Reducing Foods, we address the fact that if you must add salt to your diet, the easiest switch you can make is from using Iodized Salt to Celtic Sea Salt. Consuming less sugar helps to regulate insulin levels, causing less spikes and dips in cortisol. Too much cortisol variance sends the body – and more specifically, the fat cells – into protection mode and these cells hang on to fat. Therefore, eating less sugar will result in a more stable cortisol environment, reducing the appearance of cellulite. Exercise - Lots of It The old adage “exercise at least 3x a week” you’ve been hearing from your mom and the family doctor are pretty on-point. We would like to put the emphasis on the AT LEAST part of that recommendation, and even suggest increasing the frequency to 5 or 6 times a week. Keeping a steady cardio schedule throughout the week aids in the flushing of toxins from the body – the toxins which build up in our fat cells and contribute to the “cottage cheese” look of cellulite. There are also specific toning and muscle-building exercises that will target the thigh and buttock areas, and they mainly involve doing squats and lunges. We also like Prevention’s recent list of simple do-at-home moves. Supplements Much research and trials have been done with the use of supplements in order to reduce cellulite, but there are two that are believed to be more effective than the rest. Gota Kola An ancient herb well-known for helping to increase circulation, which in turn flushes out toxins from cells, thereby reducing the appearance of cellulite. It is helpful in stimulating production of the protein molecules from which collagen is formed, tightens loose skin after weight loss, and promotes tissue healing. Glucosamine Glucosamine is known to help arthritis; as it restores moisture to joints and keeps cell tissues well hydrated; this in turn has a positive, plumping effect on the cells, thus reducing the dimpled, “orange peel” look of the skin. Skincare and Special Techniques The beauty and skincare industries are awash with countless anti-cellulite creams, all to varying degrees of efficacy. Mainly you want to look for products with caffeine and / or retinol, as research has proven them to be the most beneficial in the treatment of cellulite. Other tricks include regular dry skin brushing, and coffee scrubs. The main drawback with investing in expensive products or trying new techniques is that in their application they require the one thing most women lack most: TIME. And this brings us to our final point, the “Missing Link” in the Anti-Cellulite Movement…. The Final Ingredient: Slimming Shapewear by Lanaform Lanaform anti-cellulite shapewear products use innovative slimming fabrics made from Bamboo Viscose, Tourmaline and bio-ceramic crystals. These revolutionary, intelligent fibres have a highly-targeted, unique massaging action that helps to correct and slim difficult zones for good. The ceramic releases negative ions and emits long, infra-red waves, increasing surface skin temperature ever so slightly. Blood flow is improved, and the body in turn burns more calories. The beads massage the thighs, buttocks and tummy constantly, reducing the “orange peel” look. Laboratory studies over a period of 30 day use show proven inches lost and women who use Lanaform Mass & Slim Shorts, Belt, or Leggings have been overwhelmingly happy with the results. Long only available in Europe, Lanaform Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products have been a well-kept secret in the fight against cellulite – but not anymore. As an informed, conscious consumer, and Lanaform products included in your arsenal, you are now fully equipped and well on your way to winning the cellulite battle forever.

8 Foods to Fight Cellulite

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 09 2015
There is an abundance of research available on the top cellulite-fighting foods, with extensive lists that include items that are sometimes obscure or tricky to obtain. Our list provides you with the 8 foods that are easiest to obtain, year-round, and are also fairly inexpensive. Chances are you might be already consuming some of them regularly. If not, now you have no excuse. Bananas: Bananas are a rich source of potassium, which is helpful for reducing cellulite in many ways. Firstly, potassium helps to reduce water retention which can be a leading cause of cellulite. Furthermore, potassium can help to support the lymphatic system and ensure it works efficiently at circulating fluid and cleansing the body of impurities. Kale: Kale is rich in Vitamin C, which helps skin to produce the collagen and elastin that protects it from cellulite forming. It also contains potassium, a mineral that prevents water retention and reduces the appearance of cellulite. High in calcium, the fat-fighting mineral will help to prevent fat cells from being stored in your body in the first place. It contains very little oxalic acid, the acid that STOPS your body from absorbing the calcium from other foods. Barley: Barley has the lowest glycemic index of all common grains. Because it takes longer to digest, it leads to a smaller spike in blood glucose and insulin levels. High amounts of insulin can promote fat storage in the body, and excess carbohydrate consumption can lead to weight gain. Instead of rice, have a ½ cup of barley with veggies and meat. Sweet Potatoes: One of the most nutritious vegetables, they contain potassium, vitamin C, some vitamin E, as well as beta-carotene. In addition, they contain some unique root proteins which, according to some preliminary studies, have significant antioxidant properties. The nutrients and other substances in sweet potatoes are thought to improve circulation and eliminate toxins – two of their most notable cellulite fighting properties. Blueberries: Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants called anthocyanins, this helps skin to form collagen. The anthocyanins can also fight the enzymes that lead to the breakdown of collagen, protecting your skin from weakening. They are also rich in Vitamin C, which the body needs to produce collagen. The anthocyanins in the berries is key in increasing the effectiveness of the Vitamin C, ensuring skin's protection. Finally, blueberries contain Vitamin E, which acts as a protective barrier to keep skin healthy and nourished. Flaxseed: Flax seed oil contains essential fatty acids (EFAs) that hydrate cells and improve skin elasticity. Oil from flax seeds contains many vitamins and minerals, making it thicker and healthier. The body relies heavily on fibre to metabolize fat cells quicker, and this is where flax comes to the rescue, making them smaller and less noticeable. Green Tea: As well as being an antioxidant, green tea has been shown to increase caloric burn rate. Drinking three cups a day can burn an extra 80 calories in the next 24 hours. Green tea may also reduce weight by stopping the production of fat-absorbing enzymes. French research claims a person can burn 30 per cent of their fat calories a day simply by drinking more. It contains an ingredient called theobromine, which stimulates the release of stored fats in the body, as does the caffeine it contains. Sunflower Seeds: Loaded with vitamin E, potassium, and zinc, good source of selenium and a good source of vitamin B6. Vitamin B6 is crucial for the proper absorption of zinc from the intestines, but it also has some cellulite fighting properties of its own: Firstly, it plays an important role in the metabolism of proteins and helps strengthen and repair connective tissue. It can also act as a natural diuretic, eliminating excess water and bloating that make cellulite more visible. Use in moderation due to high calorie content. Conclusion Integrating these 8 foods into your daily diet and getting regular exercise are key factors in weight loss and its’ maintenance. The use of Lanaform Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products in conjunction with this healthy lifestyle plan can only further assist with your desired results of body shaping & toning, while actively working with you in your fight against cellulite. Lanaform vs. Spanx

by Nima Rafizadeh on Jan 05 2015
A common question we hear at TheBlackPurple is "What is the difference between Lanaform Mass & Slim and Spanx?" DESIGN & INTENT: The main difference between these two products is that Spanx are designed to simply provide an immediate (and false) slimming "effect" to be worn under clothing to appear slimmer or in order to fit into a desired size/outfit. The Spanx products are geared towards women who don't have the time or desire to invest time into improving their body shape and who want to look good in work outfits, or for special parties or events, often at the last minute when there is no time to lose any unwanted weight or trim down/firm up. Although the Spanx line offers many different options, in essence all of their products are simply "control" undergarments that offer no intent or promise of changing your body shape. You will look exactly the same after the garment is removed. With Lanaform Cosmetex and Mass & Slim shapewear slimming products, the main purpose is to improve your body shape by helping to reduce inches, tone & soften skin, and combat the appearance of cellulite. Lanaform anti-cellulite products use innovative slimming fabrics made from Bamboo Viscose, Tourmaline and bio-ceramic crystals. These revolutionary, intelligent fibres have a two-fold effect: instant and durable. With a recommendation of wearing these products for about 8 hours a day for 28 days, Lanaform's goal is to help women lose inches and attain a more toned and refined body shape that will complement and boost a healthy lifestyle. PRODUCT QUALITY, DURABILITY & FUNCTIONALITY There has been much publicized and reviewed about the Spanx line since their 2000 launch. Their items are often sleek-looking and pretty in design, which increases their appeal to women wanting a quick-fix to feel sexy. Unfortunately, the recurring complaint about their products, it seems, involve functionality issues and inferior quality and craftsmanship. These issues inevitably lead to dissatisfaction & frustration among purchasers, regret on spending money, poor reviews and less inclination to repurchase. And despite claims that Spanx products effectively slim the physique, many women complain of discomfort or pain wearing them, especially for long intervals. There have also been many reports of problems with the Spanx return/exchange policies & procedures. Spanx also charges shipping to Canada. Lanaform Mass & Slim and Cosmetex products have a dual-functionality and are made of the highest-quality materials and fibres, and will continue to produce the desired slimming and anti-cellulite effects with the use of careful wash & care. Effectiveness is guaranteed for up to 30 washes. They redefine your figure thanks to the highly-targeted corset effect: the buttocks, belly and thighs appear thinner immediately and are comfortably maintained. The Lanaform line has a "second skin" effect which gives the wearer a sense of freedom. The leggings, shorts and belt do not "roll" or slip or move position, ensuring they are constantly working to produce long-term slimming effects correctly. TheBlackPurple has a very clear, user-friendly return policy, and will immediately replace items without requiring the receiver to ship back an incorrectly shipped order. All shipping to both Canada and the U.S. is free of charge. CONCLUSION Your choice on whether to purchase Spanx, or Lanaform Mass & Slim /Cosmetex, or any other line of shapewear for women on the market, depends on the results you want to achieve. For a long-term anti-cellulite, overall slimming and toning effect, when coupled with a healthy lifestyle, Lanaform offers you the solution that will best meet your body shaping and weight loss needs.

3 Tips to Help You Get Into Your Favourite Party Dress for the Holidays

by Nima Rafizadeh on Aug 13 2014
Are you ready for this years holiday social season? If the only thing between you and a ‘yes’ answer is that you’d like to lose a few pounds and inches so you can really rock your favourite outfit, we’ve put together a few tips to help you get there. 1. You Are Sweet Enough – You don’t need more sugar But it’s everywhere; in your fruit juice, spaghetti sauce and canned soup. It all adds up and, on average, Canadians consume 250% more sugar per day than the recommended intake. The bad news is all those extra calories, which are usually converted into food energy faster than your body can burn it off, are stored as fat. The good news is, if you make a conscious effort to eliminate as much sugar as you can, while still eating a balanced diet, you can see visible results in a couple weeks. Here’s a great way to start: try to skip or at least reduce your desserts. 2. Slow Down – Your eating habits that is If you are usually one of the first at the table to finish eating, it could be contributing to your weight gain. It takes 20 minutes for your body to tell your brain that it’s full. If you wolf down dinner, you’ll still feel hungry when you’re finished the food on your plate and you’ll be tempted to overeat. Try to develop habits that will slow down your eating: Put down your knife and fork between bites Be conscious of chewing every bite Take smaller bites Have a full glass of water and sip it between mouthfuls 3. Speed Up – Your activities that is And we’re not talking about getting a gym membership or changing your lifestyle here. But just in your daily activities there are lots of opportunities to burn more calories. It can all add up to a couple extra pounds of weight loss before the holidays. If you work in an office building or live in a condo or apartment building, get off the floor before yours and walk up the stairs (better yet, don’t wait for the elevator, just take the stairs all the way if you can) Park further away from the entrance to the mall or the stores you visit to do your holiday shopping (you’ll save time by not driving around looking for the absolutely closest parking spot) If you sit for extended periods each day, try to get some activity every hour or so. If you can’t stop work long enough to get up and walk around, try to have ‘walk n’ talk’ meetings and if someone stops by to chat, stand up to do so. At home, stand up and stretch during television commercials or at the end of each show. By themselves, none of these tips will lead to much weight loss, but together, they will help you lose a few pounds which can make all the difference in how you look in your party dress. And you still have options if the holidays arrive and you’re still not where you want to be. There are a number of effective slimming garments available to enhance your shape while still being comfortable enough to wear every day. The Black Purple offers an exclusive line of comfortable anti-cellulite shapewear that not only improves your figure, but also stimulates your body’s natural fat-burning abilities to help you lose pounds and reduce unsightly cellulite.
